PEI Brewing After Hours Seasonal: Blood Orange IPA (PEI Brewing Company, Charlottetown, PEI): 6.5%; 68 IBU

This is an East Coast, American-style juicy (literally) IPA: it is infused with organic blood orange juice. You will get aromatic hoppy notes along with the aroma and taste of blood oranges. Oddly, there is little-to-no blood orange on the nose, but the excellent use of this citrus helps balance the high hoppiness.

Cameron’s Cosmic Cream Ale (Cameron’s Brewing Company, Oakville, ON): 5%; 23 IBU

A golden ale that is refreshing and balanced with a moderate hop body. This is a subtle yet unique multi-dimensional beer. It is brewed with two-row malted barley (versus six-row barley, which would give the beer a grainier – rather than maltier – taste) and specialty UK hops. Not as creamy as I expected, but it does have a nice crisp summery feel.

Death Valley IPA (Les Brasseurs RJ, Montreal, QC): 8%; 50 IBU

Hop lovers, rejoice! Here is Death Valley, an unfiltered dry-hopped ale with three varieties of hops: Bravo, Saaz and Amarillo. This is definitely a celebration for your taste buds! Death Valley allows a delicious delivery of hops without overpowering the taste, and has a citrus finish that hovers on the back of the tongue.
